In these times, it’s hard not to feel a little desperate about the political disaster slowly unfolding in D.C. Everyday, there appears to be news of another awful thing that the men in suits have said or done, whether it’s stripping women of access to reliable and affordable healthcare, or threatening to deport thousands of America’s brightest and hardest working young people and their families by cutting DACA. To keep us relatively sane, we must rely upon one another—the hilarious, hardcore, hell-raising women that are all around us, making incredible art and standing up for what we know is right. To ease the pain a bit, here’s a roundup of some of the best feminist podcasts that will remind you of the good still left in hu(wo)manity.

  • 2 Dope Queens
Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams are basically the coolest women in media these days, unafraid to talk bluntly about just about everything from race relations to gender politics and back again—all while being outrageously funny and informative.

  • Soooo Many White Guys
Phoebe Robinson strikes again with this amazing ‘cast (produced by Ilana Glazer, helloooo!) that aims to interview talented and wonderful folks who aren’t your run of the mill white guy getting lots of media attention. Can you say... refreshing?
  • Call Your Girlfriend
Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow are long-distance best friends, and they use this podcast to keep in touch. Ummm, no, we’re not crying you’re crying. These ladies invite us into their world, reminding us of the power of deep, meaningful female friendships.
  • Women of the Hour with Lena Dunham
Whether or not you have a strong opinion about Lena Dunham, and whether or not that opinion leans positive or negative, this podcast makes for a great reprieve from the din of disaster in D.C. She basically just uses the show to highlight other incredible women, and what’s not to love in that?
  • Black Girls Talking
Generally just a lively conversation between friends that covers everything important—including homages to Soulja Boy—this podcast is sure to uplift its listeners. Run by four women who speak their minds, “Black Girls Talking” is incredibly refreshing, especially in a world where black women are so often forcibly kept silent.
  • Popaganda by Bitch Media
We love Bitch Media, and this podcast doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for advice on how to truly live your politics, reject fascism, and facilitate meaningful discussion between friends, this podcast is for you.
  • Stuff Mom Never Told You
These two ladies, Cristen Conger and Caroline Ervin, run a podcast that is smart, informative, and deliciously funny. Tune out the world and instead listen to them chat about their medical histories (IUD anyone?) and their least favorite media tropes.

Whatever your reasons, these days, we can all use a bit of a pick-me-up. Learn to lean on your fellow ladies in times of need and up your podcast game at the same time! Win-win.
